Edition VFO is proud to announce the “Zurich Print Institute”, a new cooperative of Zurich-based master printmakers together with Steindruckerei Wolfensberger as well as Esther Schena and Arno Hassler. The Zurich Print Institute is a cooperative of printmakers and experts in the field of fine art printmaking, where the knowledge of craftsmanship and the demand for contemporary expertise have found a new home.

Edition VFO was founded in 1948 to preserve and promote the art of printmaking to collectors, institutions, and artists alike. The idea was to create an alliance of local printmakers to offer a full service and concise expertise on all levels of art production related to contemporary printmaking, which found a new home under the Zurich Print Institute (ZPI). From large-format monotypes (300 x 150 cm) to lithography, intaglio, photolithography, aquatint, drypoint, soft-ground, relief, linocut, woodcut, intaglio, etching, line etching, and screen-printing, everything can now be produced through ZPI. The Zurich Print Institute also offers artists, institutions, collections, museums, and private companies a full range of consultancy services for the production of artworks.

Artists such as Wade Guyton, Ulla von Brandenburg, John Armleder, Shirana Shahbazi, Julian Charrière, Douglas Gordon, Sol Calero, Zilla Leutenegger, Michael Günzburger, Henni Alftan, Dominik Stauch, Pia Fries, Walead Beshty, Renée Levi, Roman Signer, Donna Kukama, Not Vital, Rebekka Steiger and many more have worked with the master printers at the Zurich Print Institute or with Edition VFO. The works are in the collections of the MoMA in New York, the Getty Research Institute, the Graphische Sammlung of the ETH Zurich, the Kunsthaus Zurich, and the Musée d’Art et Histoire in Geneva, amongst others.

Through collaborations and public programs, the Zurich Print Institute engages with international and local art communities to inspire and develop an appreciation of printmaking in contemporary art. We promote the intangible heritage alongside a commitment to sustainable production involving a local artisan community.

ZPI represents the highest standards in all four processes of traditional printmaking. Whether you’re an artist wanting to experiment with the limits of printmaking or an institution wanting to explore the dynamic world of printmaking, the Zurich Print Institute is your home for craftsmanship and artistic innovation.
